Zaskia Adya Mecca shares the story of how her first child, Kana Sybilla Bramantyo, who is only 14 years old, learned to ride a motorcycle. Zaskia revealed how Sibil started learning from her friend and how she was very surprised when she first found out that her child could already ride a motorcycle. Check out the full story!
"Suddenly she came home and said, 'by the way, I can ride a motorcycle now.' Allahuakbar, 'where did you learn?' 'With my friend after school, I learned in Jakarta'" said Zaskia when met in the Kemang area, South Jakarta, Thursday (1/8/2024).
Hanung Bramantyo's wife added that she herself felt panicked because even when learning to ride a motorcycle in Jakarta, she felt hesitant. When Zaskia and her family were in Jogja, Zaskia asked Sibil to show her how to ride a motorcycle.
"Finally, yesterday when I was in Jogja, I said, 'Sibil, if you can ride a motorcycle, why don't you show me how to ride it?'" asked Zaskia
Zaskia was surprised because her child was quite proficient at riding a motorcycle. However, she also explained the importance of Sibil learning to ride properly and not wanting Sibil to grow up to be someone who does not obey traffic rules.
"Finally yesterday during our time in Jogja, we only went home for 3 days, Sibil showed me how to ride a motorcycle, giving me a ride on the back, because I don't want her to grow up to be a girl who rides a motorcycle with her right turn signal on the left, and then wants to turn without using the signal, without wearing a helmet, you know. So we have to teach her," Zaskia explained.
Zaskia also responded to the viral video on social media showing Sibil riding a motorcycle without a helmet. "Things like that need to be instilled from the beginning. Yes, even though I was wrong to teach her without a helmet yesterday because it was in the neighborhood, you know. So that's where we teach the kids," said Zaskia.
Zaskia admitted that teaching Sibil to ride a motorcycle is not an easy task. "It's just really exhausting, just teaching for an hour but my energy is spent all day, it's very tense," she explained.
Zaskia explains why it has to be her who teaches her daughter, not Hanung Bramantyo, as her husband and a man. "Many also ask, because that is actually the father's job," she revealed.
"For me and mas Hanung, it's as simple as whoever is available at the moment to teach the child, then that person will accompany her. Coincidentally, mas Hanung is shooting, so I'm the one accompanying her. But maybe if mas Hanung has a bit more free time, it will definitely be him," Zaskia concluded.
