"Yes, at that time (as a pop and jazz singer) I hadn't released any singles yet, still singing regularly at hotels, and also with bands, weddings, and such. Then suddenly I was offered a dangdut song," said Cita Citata.

2. Didn't Immediately Take the Offer to Become a Dangdut Singer

Receiving an offer to sing dangdut, Cita Citata was still hesitant because she didn't have the ability to sing in this music genre.

"I didn't immediately take the (offer to sing dangdut). I said, 'I can't sing dangdut style'," she continued.

3. Turns Out Singing Dangdut is Difficult

After deciding to become a dangdut singer, Cita Citata started learning dangdut style. At that time, she realized that singing dangdut was not easy.

"So I thought, 'okay, I'll take it'. And during my time singing dangdut, Alhamdulillah, I gradually delved into it and eventually fell in love with dangdut. I learned that dangdut is really difficult, so the skills of dangdut singers are amazing," she said.

4. Once Tricked into Being a Karaoke Singer

"So when Cita came to Jakarta, Cita wanted to be a singer. Cita went to Jakarta with someone who brought Cita. Then at that time, Cita had been unemployed for more than a month. Cita cried and was shocked to be in that place (karaoke). Cita had to work but cried every day wanting to leave," said Cita Citata.

5. Once Experienced a Mystical Incident

Cita Citata admitted that the competition in the Indonesian dangdut industry is very tough. Cita Citata recounted that she once experienced a mystical incident allegedly done by a fellow professional.

"So at that time, I was performing and suddenly I didn't feel any pain but there was no sound (vocal didn't come out). It's unbelievable. I couldn't speak at all," said Cita Citata.

6. Initially Refused to Become Famous

Despite having achieved fame, it turns out that the singer of Goyang Dumang once wanted to step back from the entertainment world and choose to be just an ordinary person.

"Many things in the past, Cita's privacy became exposed, Cita didn't want that. Because if you become an artist, your personal life will be dug up and become public consumption," she concluded.
