The champion of Liga Dangdut Indonesia 2019 and a member of the Boy Band JD Eleven, Fauzul Abadi or better known as Faul LIDA, turns out to idolize the legendary Indonesian musician, Iwan Fals. Long before he embarked on a career as a dangdut singer, Iwan Fals was his role model.

In a Live session with Kapanlagi On Air on Tuesday (3/8), Faul shared the story of how his interest in Iwan Fals started. It all began with him following his friends who also idolized Iwan Fals.

"My idol artist used to be Iwan Fals. Because when I was little, I used to hang out with older people because I often sang regional songs and many friends were also fans of Iwan Fals, so I followed suit. Actually, it's not just one person that I admire," said the man born in Bener Meriah, Aceh, 26 years ago.

Before participating in the Liga Dangdut Indonesia 2019 audition, Faul said that he had participated in other competitions. But after several attempts, he finally had the opportunity to become a participant and came out as the champion in LIDA.

But who would have thought Faul's journey to be like this now was not easy. Faul tells that he was once prohibited from participating in extracurricular activities by his foster father. The reason is that his father wanted Faul to focus on completing his education.

"Yes, back then I focused on studying, I got a scholarship and my foster father who lived with me wanted me to really focus on my studies and not participate in extracurricular activities. So, my goal was to go to Jakarta to become an artist, even though I had a scholarship, I had to hide it at that time. I already had the opportunity to study, and I wanted to pursue both without my foster father knowing," Faul LIDA concluded.
