Recently, the KapanLagi team had the opportunity to interview several participants of Dangdut Academy 7, including April. One of the topics was April's struggle to reach this point.

April said that since the beginning of participating in DA7, she has not dared to set her target too high. Just making it to the top six was already a huge surprise for her, considering the large number of participants at the start of the competition.
"I didn't expect to make it to the top 6. At first, DA had so many participants, and suddenly only 6 were left, I really didn't expect that, Kak," said April.
Before being known on the Dangdut Academy stage, April spent her days as a little street performer with her father. She did this activity to help the family's economy, which was in a difficult condition at that time. Not only performing on the street, April also did live streaming with her mother to earn extra income.
"Before joining DA, April used to perform on the street with Dad sometimes before live streaming. Every day looking for ways to earn, because the economy was really tough back then. Then after performing, April would live stream with Mom, going from village to village, market to market, street to street," she explained.
In the activity of street performing, the roles of the father and April are clearly divided. The father is responsible for carrying the equipment, while April sings. This activity also serves as a vocal training opportunity for April, especially in practicing her breathing since she has to sing while walking.
The journey of street performing is not without its joys and sorrows. April remembers the moments spent with her father as beautiful memories that are hard to forget. However, there are also difficult experiences that still linger to this day.
"The sad part is when it rains. Especially since we travel quite far when performing, right? So we ride a motorcycle. Back then, we didn't have a motorcycle, we borrowed one from a relative. Even that motorcycle was old and worn out. So we got rained on, overheated, and sometimes even returned home late at night because of the rain," April said when asked by KapanLagi.
April's love for dangdut music has grown since early childhood. She admitted that she started to recognize dangdut because she was inspired by her father, who loves to sing and participated in the Dangdut Academy since the first season. Gradually, April's family's life began to change after she became active in live streaming and receiving virtual gifts.
"What used to be a difficult economy, now can also help with home renovation, for buying snacks for my younger sibling, for daily family meals at home. Thanks to Indosiar, alhamdulillah masya Allah," April expressed with gratitude.
To close her story, April expressed her gratitude to her family and loyal supporters who continue to provide prayers and encouragement throughout her journey in DA7.
"Without you, April is nobody," she concluded.
