In a podcast with malakaproject.id, Ayu Ting Ting was asked about her interest in becoming a politician by running for Mayor of Depok.

Ayu Ting Ting explained that politics is not a field she pursues. She feels comfortable working as an artist and worries about managing public funds if she becomes an official.
"Ayu does not force it, especially since we live peacefully, already enjoy work, earn money that people know about, visible like that. I mean, later they might think that if we become officials, it’s the state’s money, the people’s money, we don’t want that," continued Ayu Ting Ting.
