ECPAT Disappointed with TV Stations that Broadcast Saipul Jamil's Content, Requests to Not Normalize It

Furthermore, Rio also regrets that the entertainment media shows no sympathy for the victims of sexual abuse who may have witnessed Saipul Jamil's appearance on TV. For him, the freedom celebration of Saipul Jamil is completely inappropriate and considered normal.

"So don't judge based on the person, because if they're a celebrity, they can be covered extensively like a hero adorned with flowers like that," criticized Rio Hendra, Legal Coordinator of End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography & Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes (ECPAT).

After this incident, Rio emphasized that ECPAT's next mission is to provide assistance to the community. So that in the future, perpetrators of sexual harassment will not receive a welcome and treatment like a hero.

"So let's not make it a habit that if this case repeats, there will be the same welcoming actions again. It's different, for example, if the case is like Robin Hood stealing to distribute to the poor and then getting imprisoned, that might not be a problem," he concluded.
