The name Rhoma Irama is a combination of the words 'Raden', 'Haji', and 'Oma' which were the beloved nicknames given by his mother, while Irama comes from the name of a Sundanese theater group, Irama Baru. Nowadays, it is impossible for anyone not to know the king of dangdut.

He became a true king of dangdut because he started learning music at a young age. Achieving his current success as a validated king of dangdut was not easy, of course. Rhoma Irama had a difficult childhood and youth, and he went through many ups and downs in life to get where he is today. Facing the twists and turns of life that are not easy to overcome, Rhoma once found himself selling clothes he brought from Jakarta. While in Solo, Rhoma failed to pass and had to return to Jakarta to continue high school at SMA 17 Agustus and graduated in 1964.
