Like Dangdut Koplo, This Participant of DAA 6 from Malaysia Turns Out to be of East Java Descent

Kapanlagi.com - Hazman Sanjaya, a participant of Dangdut Academy Asia (DAA) 6 representing Malaysia, is no stranger to dangdut music. Since childhood, he has often listened to dangdut songs and favored koplo-style dangdut.

"Because my surroundings have many Indonesian people and I am of Bawean (Island), East Java descent. My father migrated from Bawean to Malaysia," said Hazman during a conversation with the Kapanlagi.com team, on Monday (7/8/2023).

1. Singing Since the Age of 15

Not only a fan of dangdut, Hazman is also skilled at singing dangdut. In fact, in his hometown, Hazman is a dangdut singer from one of the dangdut orchestras. Hazman admitted that he started his career as a dangdut singer at the age of 15. Previously, he was a kasidah singer.

"In Malaysia, I am a solo organ singer, singing dangdut koplo. Singing from one stage to another at wedding events," he said.

"I used to be a kasidah singer, but when I was 15 years old, I started to delve into dangdut because someone (from a dangdut orchestra) invited me," he added.

2. Didn't Expect

Hazman admitted that he was lucky. The first time he registered for DAA 6 audition, he was immediately accepted. Even now, he is the remaining representative from Malaysia and successfully made it to the Top 9.

"I didn't expect to reach this point, especially the Top 9, it's a big surprise because I was just a singer from stage to stage," he said.

3. No Target in DAA 6

When asked about his target, Hazman admitted that he didn't expect much to move on to the next round. Because being able to reach the Top 9 round, according to him, is already extraordinary.

"I don't have a target, I'm already very grateful to have made it this far. I'm just an ordinary person, while others have participated in competitions, so I have nothing to lose," he said.
