Melly Lee Says She Can Sing Dangdut Thanks to Lesti, Here's the Story

Kapanlagi.com - The champion of Liga Dangdut Indonesia 2020, Melly Lee, apparently has a unique story about how she was introduced to the world of music. Her story began when Melly was still in the 3rd grade of elementary school, where at that time her teacher asked her to participate in a competition representing her school.

When met at Kapanlagi Youniverse, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday afternoon (17/5), Melly told her story. She also said that at first it was not dangdut music that she sang in the competition.

"I've known music since the 3rd grade of elementary school, introduced by my teacher, but at that time I usually sang regional songs," said Melly Lee.

"So it's like representing the school for the competition," she added.

Then, when she graduated from elementary school, Melly finally got to know dangdut music. It was also unintentional because this 19-year-old girl admitted that she was completely blind to this music genre.

"So from there, when the graduation moment came, there was an invitation for a dangdut event, and my teachers appointed me to sing even though I didn't know that I could sing dangdut," she said.

However, when performing, Melly was able to entertain by singing dangdut songs. This is because, at that time, Melly mentioned that she often followed the development of Lesti in the first season of Dangdut Academy.

In fact, because of her love for Lesti as an idol, Melly always memorized every song ever sung by Rizky Billar's wife when she performed.

"At that time, Lesti was popular, and I followed her and memorized every song she sang. So I always sang those songs, and from there, I realized that I could sing dangdut even though I didn't realize it at first," she concluded.
