Soimah Was Once Cursed by a Senior Sinden, Her Voice Became Off-Key - The Sound of Gamelan Could Be Heard from Afar

Soimah Pancawati is known as a top sinden and a Javanese artist with many works and great versatility. "In a wayang performance, there are many sinden, but the guests are two, me and him," said Soimah via the TRANS TV OFFICIAL YouTube channel on Thursday, 19/12.

"Earlier, I had heard stories that he had done those things (witchcraft against junior singers), so I had already been informed by other senior singers," she continued.

When sitting next to each other, Soimah began to feel strange things. "We were sitting side by side, and there were drinks for each of us, and she must have brought her own supplies in her bag," she continued.

"She said 'can I have your drink?' even though we already had our own drinks. It felt off, we already had drinks but she was asking for mine," she added.

Not only that, the singer also borrowed Soimah's makeup tools. "Then she borrowed my powder, even though it’s impossible she didn’t bring her own powder, she must have everything in her bag," she said.

Curious about the rumors regarding black magic previously, Soimah lent her powder to test the truth of the rumor.

However, when it was her turn to perform, Soimah experienced something strange. When the gamelan was played, its sound seemed very distant, making it difficult for Soimah to find the notes, and her singing became off-key.

"I was about to sing, the gamelan sounded, but the sound of the gamelan was so far away that I couldn't hear the clear notes. In the end, my singing became off-key because I couldn't hear where the notes were," she explained.

The puppeteer who participated in the event even asked Soimah to stop singing because he realized something was not right. Soimah suspected that the senior singer intentionally made her perform poorly so that she would not be invited to similar events again.

"Thank God the effect is probably just the sound. Maybe they think if I sing off-key I won't be invited again," said Soimah.

Soimah mentioned that the sinden still exists until now but is no longer active as a sinden. "The person is still there," she concluded.
