Ozzy Osbourne's Condition Before Passing Away, Battling Parkinson's

Ozzy Osbourne, rock music icon and lead vocalist of Black Sabbath, took his last breath on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. He passed away at the age of 76 after years of struggling with various serious health conditions.

His family stated that the legend passed away peacefully, surrounded by love and close ones. Before his death, Ozzy suffered from several illnesses, including Parkinson's, which he had long endured.

Ozzy Osbourne's condition began to deteriorate in 2019 when he fell at home one night. The fall aggravated old injuries from an ATV accident, requiring him to undergo major surgery on his neck. “When they operated on my neck, all the nerves were cut, and it damaged everything,” he told Rolling Stone. He even experienced a loss of body stability and felt that his right arm was always cold.

After the accident, he faced a series of complications, including a respiratory infection that forced him to cancel several important tours. “Since October, everything I touch has turned to mess,” he said. Ozzy Osbourne also admitted to feeling very disappointed because he had to let down his fans, crew, and friends on stage.

In early 2020, Ozzy announced that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's since 2003. Although he had lived with the condition for quite some time, he only publicly shared it at that time. “This is not a death sentence,” he said in an interview with Robin Roberts. However, he admitted it was difficult to accept the reality that he could no longer contribute as he used to in his family life and career.

Parkinson's not only affected his physical condition but also his mental health. In his interview with The Observer in 2022, Ozzy Osbourne admitted to having been at a low point due to constant pain and frustration. “I once wished I wouldn’t wake up the next morning,” he said, describing the extent of the pain he experienced.

In the last five years of his life, Ozzy underwent seven surgeries, primarily on his spine. However, in September 2023, he decided to stop. “I can't take it anymore. My legs feel like they're being pulled by stones when I walk,” he said. Nevertheless, he rejects the notion that he is finished. “I am far from done.”

Not staying idle, Ozzy tries various ways to maintain his body functions. One of them is practicing Tai Chi, which he believes helps with balance. “I practice every day. I want to rise again,” he said on The Osbournes Podcast in October 2023.

However, his health condition continued to deteriorate. In February 2025, he admitted that he could no longer walk. “I can’t walk, but I’m still alive,” he said on his radio show on SiriusXM. He realizes how precious life is, even with physical limitations. “Many people are not as fortunate as I am,” he added.
