Valentina Sampaio, First Transgender Model for Victoria's Secret, Born into a Fisherman Family

Valentina is a transgender model from Brazil. Being part of the new VS campaign is an achievement that should be celebrated.

This is because VS has not adequately accommodated the diversity of women. In fact, Ed Razek, the boss of VS, once faced criticism for his comments that seemed to belittle the transgender and LGBTQ community.

There is not much information about Valentina's past, but she was indeed born male. However, she has felt that something is wrong with herself and consulted a psychologist at the age of 8.

She changed her name to Valentina at the age of 10. Now she is pursuing her modeling career which continues to skyrocket while completing her architecture studies.

Becoming a VS model is not her first achievement as a transgender model. In 2017, she became the first transgender model to grace the cover of Vogue Paris.

Valentina has also become the face of numerous major brands worldwide. She is one of the L'Oreal models in an exclusive collection with designer Balmain, Olivier Rousteing.

Valentina herself was born in Aquiraz Ceara, a fishing village on the coast of Brazil. Her parents work as fishermen and teachers, but this simplicity does not diminish the achievements made by Valentina.

Valentina has been featured on the cover of Elle Brazil, Vogue Paris, as a model for L'Oreal and VS Pink in a relatively short period of time. What other achievements will this young transgender woman make?
