Ahead of the Release of the Biopic Film BUYA HAMKA, Falcon Publishing Releases a Novel as a Complement

Kapanlagi.com - The release of the biopic film BUYA HAMKA has been postponed due to the pandemic. Initially, the drama created by Fajar Bustomi was scheduled to be released in all cinemas in Indonesia in 2020.

However, it seems that Falcon Pictures and Starvision, as two major production houses working on the film, will release it in 2022. This can be seen from the publication of the novel titled Buya Hamka by renowned author A. Fuadi.

The novel, published by Falcon Publishing, is not exactly the same as the film. However, it can be a book that accompanies the film if you want to watch it later.

"The story in this novel is a development from the film. They will complement each other when watching it," said A. Fuadi as quoted by KapanLagi.com during a virtual conference some time ago.

1. Most Materials

A. Fuadi conducted special research to write this novel by Buya Hamka. He admitted that he faced difficulties because there were so many sources that he was confused to find new things to present.

"The challenge of writing this book is not a lack of materials, but an overflow of materials because he is actively writing. He has written 100 books and there is also an autobiography. Meanwhile, I have to tell the story of this character in a new way. Because of the confusion, I finally chose the interesting and most dramatic aspects of all the stories, of course, according to my taste," said A. Fuadi.

2. Explaining What's Not in the Movie

The fact that the book complements the film was also conveyed by Fajar Bustomi as the director. He said that if there are details missing in the film, they will be explained by reading the novel.

"Before watching, read the book first. Because the period that I portrayed from him (Buya) is from his birth until he became the chairman of MUI. Due to limited duration, there may be things that I cannot include in the film. It will be more detailed by reading," said Fajar on the same occasion.

3. Combine History with Detective

In addition to Buya Hamka's novel, Falcon Publishing also publishes the novel Komsi Komsa. This novel by E.S. Ito is quite refreshing because it combines historical elements with a detective theme that is considered unique in the Indonesian literary industry.

"Komsi Komsa is my third novel. My third attempt because history is often considered boring. Maybe this is the genre I like, I have an interest in historical and detective stories. Why set it in the 1950s, because that's the era I like," explained E.S. Ito.
