Drias Production Ready to Work on Latest Horror Film Set in Yogyakarta in March 2024

Kapanlagi.com - Along with the rapid development of digital and entertainment industries, Drias Production collaborates with the new social media platform KipasKipas, announcing a yet-to-be-revealed horror film. The production process of this latest film is planned to start in March 2024.

The film, produced by Avesina Soebli and Gito Huang, will be directed by Bambang Drias with a screenplay written by Baskoro Adi, who is famous for the Kuntilanak film series. Although the title of this film is still a secret, there is a little leak about the story, which tells a tragic flashback intertwined with history.

This film tells the story of a mother who dies and becomes a kuntilanak (female ghost) while giving birth to twin babies during a riot in her village. The kuntilanak haunts one of her surviving children, who is now an adult, when he returns to his mother's hometown.

1. Setting in the 90s

In addition, this film is set in the 90s, giving a nostalgic atmosphere and taking viewers on a journey through the difficult times of that era. Avesina Soebli as the Producer, who has also produced feature films such as Hujan Bulan Juni (2017), Akad (2022), and Paku Tanah Jawa (2023), stated that she wanted to present a drama wrapped in a local horror story.

"We want to provide drama with a strong local horror color and a different experience for Indonesian film enthusiasts, especially the story in this film," said Avesina Soebli in her written statement on Monday (8/1).

"Not only about fear, but also exploring emotions and humanity that may be hidden behind its mystery," she added.

2. Showcasing Javanese Culture

In addition, the filming location will be in Jogja because it provides a distinct Indonesian atmosphere and the richness of Javanese culture. With this, Drias Production hopes to provide a visually impressive and memorable horror story for the audience.

Gito Huang, the Executive Producer, also added that KIPASKIPAS, which is planned to be launched this year, not only functions as a social media platform, but also as a platform for filmmakers. In the future, Gito Huang explained that this app will be popular among all groups.
