Marchella FP Reveals Reason for Entrusting 'NANTI KITA CERITA TENTANG HARI INI' to Angga Dwimas Sasongko

Kapanlagi.com - Marchella FP, the author of the book Nanti Kita Cerita Tentang Hari Ini (NKCTHI), revealed the reason why she entrusted the adaptation of NKCTHI to director Angga Dwimas Sasongko.

Marchella was only involved in the initial development of crafting the story, after which she gave Angga the freedom to develop the story of the three siblings Awan (Rachel Amanda), Aurora (Sheila Dara), and Angkasa (Rio Dewanto).

"I wanted to collaborate with a director who could truly make this their own work. Finally, I was involved in the development of the initial synopsis," said Marchella.

1. Experiencing Difficulties at the Beginning

Together with the director and other scriptwriters, Marchella seeks inspiration and discusses for several days on the Island of the Gods. Initially, Marchella felt difficulties because it was her first time being involved in writing a film script.

"I don't know how to develop a script, but what I know is that I have entrusted it to the experts," she said.

Angga delved into the details of the book NKCTHI, including the background of each short message he wrote. They also read thousands of stories from people who shared their stories on the NKCTHI social media account, resulting in the creation of a synopsis about the Awan, Aurora, and Angkasa family.

Of course, there were concerns about entrusting their 'baby' to others, but that feeling slowly disappeared as the discussion progressed. "After aligning our vision and mission, I handed this over to Visinema," said Marchella.

2. Angga Creates Satisfying Works

Marchella believes that Angga can create satisfying works that stay true to the main theme because they already have the same understanding.

Angga said that there are two things that motivate him to adapt NKCTHI into a film. Although NKCTHI started as a book, Marchella developed it into a 'story field' by using social media platforms where NKCTHI account followers share short stories about their lives.

"First, as a platform, NKCTHI gathers a lot of stories. Second, as a human being, there are many stories that I never imagined would happen. Reading them made me realize that the world I know is not as big as I thought," said Angga.

3. The Meaning of NKCTHI for Angga

They collected thousands of stories from readers as a source of plot for the story that tells the lives of Angkasa, Aurora, and Awan. What was eventually written for the NKCTHI film reflects the lives of those involved in the production team.

For Angga, NKCTHI is a personal film because it reflects himself in three roles, as a child, a sibling, and a father. Angga wants to convey a simple story in NKCTHI about human nature and the role of family.

"No matter what we do, we are still imperfect humans. Sometimes we make mistakes not because we want to, but because we are unaware of our imperfections," he said.

"Family, as much as possible, should be a place where we can embrace those imperfections. And that's what I want to tell in NKCTHI," he added.

4. Airing on January 2, 2020

NKCTHI, scheduled to air starting from January 2, 2020, is the latest work from director Angga Dwimas Sasongko, marking 15 years of his career in the directing world. The film Nanti Kita Cerita Tentang Hari Ini is a collaboration between Visinema Pictures, IDN Media, Blibli.com, and XRM Media.

Several artists are involved in this film, such as Rachel Amanda, Rio Dewanto, Sheila Dara, Donny Damara, Susan Bachtiar, Chicco Jerikho, Oka Antara, Niken Anjani, Agla Artalidia, Umay Shahab, Muhammad Adhiyat, Sinyo, Nayla Denny Purnama, Alleyra Fakhira Kurniawan, and Syaqila Afiffah Putri, as well as musician Ardhito Pramono. This film will be simultaneously released in Indonesian cinemas on January 2, 2020.
