Playing the Role of an Alzheimer's Patient in the Film 'PELANGI TANPA WARNA', Maudy Koesnaedi: Emotions Must Be Deep

In this film directed by Indra Gunawan, Maudy plays the role of Kirana, a wife who forgets her husband due to Alzheimer's disease. Being an Alzheimer's patient is considered a personal challenge for Maudy.

"This is difficult because the emotions have to be deep. I can't shed tears, speak, or express myself, so it's more internal," said Maudy Koesnaedi at Falcon Pictures office, Jakarta, on Thursday (27/1/2022).

In addition, Maudy also has to be able to let go of the shadow of the character Zaenab in the film SI DOEL. Because in the film PELANGI TANPA WARNA she is paired again with Rano Karno who plays her husband.

"When I first found out that I would be paired with Bang Rano, I wasn't sure because I never had the thought of playing with Rano other than as Zaenab and Dul. So it was a consideration, I was sure that I could let go of Zaenab and Dul," said Maudy.

"I also called him. But during filming, there were no worries about acting, so it was an advantage for us as co-actors, the chemistry was already there, we just had to bring out our respective characters," continued the 46-year-old actress.

Meanwhile, being paired again with Rano Karno, according to Maudy, is a big challenge for her. Because she has to be able to let go of the character Zaenab that has already become a part of her.

The film tells the story of a husband's struggle to maintain a household where Fedi, played by Rano Karno, has to face the bitter reality when his wife, Kirana, played by Maudy Koesnaidi, suffers from Alzheimer's disease.
