Once again showcasing his class as a character actor, Rio Dewanto takes on an emotionally challenging role in his latest film, JUSTICE (THE VERDICT). He plays Raka, a husband who transforms from an honest figure to a vengeful man after his wife becomes a victim of crime.

Maintaining the intense emotional consistency from the beginning to the end of filming is certainly not an easy task. Rio also shares a bit about the "kitchen secrets" of an actor in maintaining character depth throughout the production process.

"Yes, what is it, that's our kitchen secret as an actor. Every actor definitely has their own way to maintain, seek, and make that consistent," explained Rio at MD Place, Kuningan, South Jakarta, Wednesday (20/8/2025).

According to him, there is no one definitive formula. Every actor has different methods, ranging from in-depth discussions with the director, exchanging ideas with co-stars, to digging into personal memories to evoke the needed emotions.

"I have different ways, you know. I mean, some talk a lot with the director, some do a lot of discussions with their fellow actors, it's all different," he added.

The father of Salma Jihane Putri Dewanto admits that one of the easiest ways to access when an actor feels stuck is to recall relevant personal experiences.

"Yes, that's probably the easiest way, to recall the memories we once felt, and then bring them back to mind," he stated.

The emotional journey of the complex character Raka, from a loving husband to someone who recklessly takes the law into his own hands, is the essence of the film JUSTICE (THE VERDICT).
