Linda Adoe is a newcomer who made her debut in the film WOMAN FROM ROTE ISLAND. She portrays a single mother named Orpa whose child becomes a victim of sexual abuse.
Linda shared an interesting fact about her involvement in Jeremias Nyangoen's film. Initially, she had no interest in joining when the production company held an open casting to find local actors.
"At that time, I knew there was an open casting for this film in Rote, but I wasn't interested in participating. Coincidentally, I like doing zumba, and there was a zumba party in Rote, so I went there," said Linda at KLY Youniverse, Gondangdia, Central Jakarta, on Monday (12/2/2024).
"There, the film production team is looking for actors and they saw me as a suitable candidate. They said, it's difficult to find someone to play Orpa," she continued.
Just by looking at her, the production team immediately approached Linda Adoe and asked her to participate in the casting. Feeling uncomfortable to refuse, she reluctantly joined the casting.
"I don't know how, they found my phone number and came to my house, explained and asked me to join the casting. In the end, I agreed, mostly to be friendly because they came from far away. During the casting, I was asked to be angry, to cry, and unexpectedly I passed," explained Linda.
Linda Adoe herself is a woman who works as a Civil Servant in the Rote area. From being completely ignorant about acting and film, she eventually became interested and hoped for another offer.
"As an ASN (Civil Servant), suddenly playing in a film feels very different from my daily life. But if you ask if I'm interested, I want to try playing in a film again. It's also a challenge," said Linda.
Linda Adoe watched the film WOMAN FROM ROTE ISLAND for the first time when she attended a screening in Manila. Seeing herself on the big screen, she couldn't stop crying because of how emotional it was.
"I watched it for the first time in Manila, from the beginning to the end, crying and feeling overwhelmed because I didn't expect to be there (in the film), to be acting, and for the film to be that good. The character Orpa came back, the pain returned," concluded Linda.
Marshel Widianto admits to being quite overwhelmed taking care of his 2 children.
