This year, Indonesian cinema will be represented by six film titles to grace the most prestigious international platform, Cannes Film Festival 2025. The film JUMBO has been selected as one of the representatives that will be presented.
The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia has also expressed appreciation and support for the filmmakers who will carve the history of Indonesian cinema at Cannes, as they have helped build a bridge between the nation's culture and the global network. Minister Fadli Zon himself hopes that this breakthrough can strengthen support, drive, inspiration, and spirit for the film industry to continue moving towards excellence, both nationally and internationally.

After achieving an impressive milestone of nearly 9 million viewers in Indonesia, JUMBO is now set to expand its wings to the Cannes Film Festival 2025. This animated feature, directed by Ryan Adriandhy and created by more than 400 animators, will be presented at the Marche du Film with the aim of meeting potential partners to market and distribute the film to attract more countries to screen it.
The story of the film JUMBO focuses on a boy named Don (Prince Poetiray) who remembers his parents every day through a special fairy tale book and reads its stories to many friends. However, the book is stolen by Atta (M. Adhiyat) just moments after Don signs up for a performance. In his mission to save his fairy tale book, he encounters the ghost of a girl named Meri (Quinn Salman), who then agrees to help him.

Reza Rahadian is making his debut as a director through the film PANGKU. Although it is expected to be released around Q3 2025, the film has already won the "White Light Post-Production Award" from JAFF Future Project in 2024.
PANGKU was also selected as one of the five winning films of the HAF Goes to Cannes Program 2025. This victory paves the way for it to be presented at a prestigious festival, namely the Cannes Film Festival 2025.

Iko Uwais through his production house Uwais Pictures will present the film IKATAN DARAH at the Marche du Film, part of the upcoming Cannes Film Festival 2025. Similar to Ryan Adriandhy's previous film, this is an opportunity for the producer along with director Sidharta Tata to expand their network with potential international partners.
IKATAN DARAH features elements of the martial art silat combined with a local story. The plot centers around a former pencak silat athlete who must confront a 'loan shark' to save his biological siblings. The cast involved in this action film includes Derby Romero, Livi Ciananta, Ismi Melinda, and Teuku Rifnu.

HAIR FACTORY MONSTER (known as SLEEP NO MORE in English) is a co-production film between Indonesia and the countries of Singapore, Japan, and Germany. This film is directed by Edwin and released by Palari Films.
At the upcoming Marche du Film, HAIR FACTORY MONSTER will collaborate with a South Korean sales agent as its representative, namely ShowBox. The film, starring Rachel Amanda, Iqbaal Ramadhan, and Sal Priadi, tells a mysterious and thrilling story about an incident at a hair factory.
Not only JUMBO, other films from the production house Visinema will also bring glory to Indonesia at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. THE MORNING JOURNEY is the debut film of producer Christine Hakim directed by Garin Nugroho.
There is no further information yet regarding the storyline offered in the comeback film of the legendary actress from the homeland to the Cannes stage. However, it is known that the film THE MORNING JOURNEY will feature a story about a mother's journey in searching for the meaning of life after the departure of her child.

The last Indonesian film that will color the Cannes Film Festival 2025 and also enter the main competition is RENOIR. Similar to MONSTER PABRIK RAMBUT, this film is a production by KawanKawan Media (Indonesia) in collaboration with several countries, namely Japan, France, the Philippines, and Singapore.
Japanese director Chie Hayakawa (Plan 75) has been entrusted with directing the shooting process of RENOIR. Yulia Evina Bhara and Amerta Kusuma are the co-producers behind the film. In addition to her role in producing the film, Yulia has also been assigned as one of the juries for Semaine de La Critique (Critics Week) Cannes Film Festival 2025.
