'QODRAT 2' Coming Soon, Bringing a New Sensation of Horror with Hundreds of People Experiencing Mass Possession

1. Synopsis of the Film 'QODRAT 2'

QODRAT 2 tells the story of Ustad Qodrat's journey to search for, find, and save his wife, Azizah. It turns out that Azizah suffers from depression after selling herself to Assuala to save her child, Alif.

Azizah was once hospitalized in a mental health facility. However, she has since been discharged and is working in a spinning factory. At the place where Azizah works, a series of mysterious deaths among the workers occur, caused by a devilish ritual performed by the factory owner for the sake of wealth.

Knowing this, Qodrat tries to save Azizah by any means necessary. Especially when all the terror culminates in a mass possession attack where the devil is once again ready to strike, waiting for Qodrat to fall into their trap.

2. Dian Sastro Becomes Executive Producer

Dian Sastrowardoyo became the executive producer of the film QODRAT 2. She explained that this is her first experience handling a horror film project. According to her, this action horror film is the best religious-themed film.

"I am very happy, this is my first time being an executive producer for a horror film. I am very grateful to be part of the magma family, and finally be able to collaborate on the QODRAT 2 project. Because I have been following since QODRAT one, especially QODRAT 2, after I watched it, it is safe for me to say this is the best Indonesian action horror film with a religious theme made this year," said Dian Sastrowardoyo in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, Thursday (27/02).

3. The Reason for the Concept of Mass Possession Involving 150 People

At the press conference, Charles Gozali explained how the concept of mass possession emerged in the film QODRAT 2. He wanted to create something better and different from other religious horror films.

"In the second film, of course, when people expect a sequel to be bigger and better, especially since the story of QODRAT has indeed led to more films with themes of ustad and ruqiah. So then the writers ensured that we had to create something more because QODRAT cannot be separated from ruqiah, which means that the possessed should be more, leading to the concept of mass ruqiah involving more than a hundred people. Well, the cast is almost 150 people," said Charles Gozali.

In addition, the choice of the mass possession location in a factory has reasons based on very thorough research.

"Our writers conducted research, so this film is set in the 1980s. They imagined what would happen if Azizah had to support herself, where could a woman in that era find a job relatively quickly at a not-young age. Thus, a factory is the answer. Secondly, based on research findings, possession in Indonesia primarily occurs in factories. That is the reason for our choice of location," continued Charles.

4. Screening in Several Countries

Linda Gozali as the Producer of the film QODRAT 2 explained that this religious-themed horror action film will be screened in several countries besides Indonesia. Qodrat 2 will be shown in Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei on April 17.

"What is certain is that Malaysia and Brunei will be screened on April 17. So after Indonesia, it will continue in Malaysia, Brunei, and then Singapore will follow. After that, we are still waiting for news because we are in talks with various parties. We certainly hope that more people will get to know Ustad Qodrat," said Linda Gozali.

The film QODRAT 2 will soon be screened in all theaters across Indonesia starting from the upcoming Eid.
