Sulastri is a ronggeng dancer in her village, Mangunsari Village. In her village, Sulastri is known as the most excellent ronggeng dancer. One night, Sulastri is assigned to perform ronggeng dance as a village tradition to entertain guests, namely college students doing their community service. The night goes on as usual, the audience is captivated by the dance performed by Sulastri.
As the night gets late, Sulastri experiences something that should not have happened. He does something vile to Sulastri. Sulastri tries to defend her dignity, but she is helpless as she is brutally attacked. Sulastri can only say for help in her heart. The incident should not have happened that night, Sulastri was just doing her job. Since then, Sulastri has vowed to seek revenge!

The movie that will be shown in theaters on March 28, 2024 is actually adapted from the novel RONGGENG PEMBALASAN SULASTRI. The novel was written by Arumi E along with Sukhdev Singh and was published in 2020 by Sunset Road & Screen Media publisher.
According to Arumi's wattpad account, in early January 2020, Arumi was offered to write a horror novel that would be published by Sunset Road and turned into a film by Screenmedia Films, which is owned by Sukhdev Singh. Arumi certainly did not waste the opportunity and agreed to the offer. Arumi was invited to meet Sukhdev Singh because he had the idea for the title of the novel, which is RONGGENG PEMBALASAN SULASTRI, based on the story of a Ronggeng with a heartbreaking fate. Arumi finally created the synopsis of the novel. Initially, the synopsis created by Arumi was rejected, but after submitting a second synopsis, it was approved by Sukhdev Singh.
After the synopsis was approved, Arumi continued to create the story outline with the names of characters she created. The outline written by Arumi underwent two revisions until it was finally approved and in line with Sukhdev Singh's vision. Only then did Arumi continue to the stage of writing the novel, with only two months given. With such a short time, Arumi was able to complete her novel on time. Amazing, isn't it?
