1. Film Synopsis 'BUYA HAMKA'

The film BUYA HAMKA tells the life journey of Prof.Dr.H.Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah or popularly known as Buya Hamka, who was born on February 17, 1908 in West Sumatra. When he was young, Hamka often listened to poems about the beauty of Minangkabau nature. When he was seven years old, Hamka started attending school in the Village School. After a few years, he moved to Thawalib, a school that emphasized Islamic education.

When he entered adolescence, Hamka went to Java Island. He migrated to Yogyakarta to continue his education. This is where Hamka's organizational experience was formed. He was once a member of Sarekat Islam and a student of HOS Tjokroaminoto and Suryopranoto.

From the activities and daily life of Buya Hamka, he became a critical person. However, Hamka's criticism led to his arrest during President Soekarno's administration. Hamka was detained in Sukabumi in 1964 on charges of subversive activities.

Two years later, Hamka was released. After his release, he spent his time preaching at the Al-Azhar Grand Mosque and giving lectures on Radio Republik Indonesia and TVRI. Hamka then continued his life until he passed away on July 24, 1981, and his body was buried in TPU Tanah Kusir, Jakarta.
