Before its regular screening in cinemas, MONSTER was previously shown in limited screenings at the Jakarta World Cinema Week and Jogja-Netpac Asian Film Festival. Due to the positive response and curiosity it sparked, it is now presented in cinemas.

The film MONSTER tells the story of a mother named Saori (played by Sakura Ando) who realizes there is something suspicious about her only son, Minato (played by Soya Kurakawa). After investigating, it all starts from the child's school.
Minato is accused of being a bully at school. Saori, of course, does not accept this statement and becomes worried about sending her child to that school. What really happened?
MONSTER premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival in May 2023. In that festival, Hirokazu Kore-eda's latest work received the Queer Palm award and was acclaimed as the film with the best screenplay.
