Marvel's 'ETERNALS' Trailer Released, Filled with Stars and Teases 'Replacement' for Avengers' Leader

Kapanlagi.com - The longing of superhero film lovers, specifically fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise, is slowly being fulfilled. After the release of the series WANDAVISION as the opening of Phase 4 of the MCU, a new film title is ready to greet fans on the big screen, namely ETERNALS.

ETERNALS is the 26th film in the MCU franchise, set after AVENGERS: END GAME. This film is based on the Marvel comic of the same name, first published in 1976. The phenomenal filmmaker, Chloe Zhao, who recently received various sensational awards for the film NOMADLAND, is entrusted as the director and screenwriter.

Marvel fans are even more excited after the official trailer for ETERNALS was finally released today, Monday (24/5) via the Marvel Entertainment YouTube channel. In the 2-minute trailer, we are presented with various new faces in the MCU, who are already very popular in the film industry.

1. Studded with Stars

One of the highlights of ETERNALS is the presence of a series of popular cast members, such as Gemma Chan (Sersi), Richard Madden (Ikaris), Kumail Nanjiani (Kingo), Lia McHugh (Sprite), Brian Tyree Henry (Phastos), Lauren Ridloff (Makkari), Barry Keoghan (Druig), Don Lee (Gilgamesh), Salma Hayek (Ajak), Angelina Jolie (Thena), and Zain Al Rafeea, a rising child actor known for his role in the film CAPERNAUM.

ETERNALS also introduces a number of superheroes with superpowers who will fight against The Deviants, the main antagonist in the film.

2. The New Leader of The Avengers?

In the ETERNALS franchise, none of the AVENGERS characters will appear. However, in the 2-minute trailer, the Eternals briefly discuss Captain America's retirement and Iron Man's death, which are references from AVENGERS: END GAME.

And at one point, one of the Eternals, Ikaris, casually mentions that he could become the replacement for Captain America and Iron Man to lead the Avengers. This remark is met with laughter from the other Eternals.

The question is, is Ikaris serious about his statement? Or is it just a joke? For those who don't know, the character portrayed by Richard Madden is the leader of the Eternals, who has super abilities, including the ability to fly and shoot lasers from his eyes.
