Not Officially Released Season Two, HBO Has Promised to Soon Work on Season 3 of 'THE LAST OF US'

Previously, the two creators behind the series THE LAST OF US admitted that it felt insufficient to convey the story of the continuation of that adventure with just two additional seasons. This is because they require much more time than the first season to explore an engaging storyline.

"We (can) almost guarantee that as long as people keep watching so we can produce more television shows, the third season (THE LAST OF US) will be a project that attracts much more attention. Then, it is likely (that this) will push the need for a fourth season for this story." Said Craig Mazin in an interview session with Deadline Magazine in 2024.

2. The Release of the Second Season is Just Around the Corner

The second season of THE LAST OF US, which will be launched on April 13, 2025, will consist of seven episodes. This number is fewer than the total episodes offered by the first season. However, both Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann assure fans that they are working to complete the major video game project The Last Of Us Part II as soon as possible.

In season 2, the love story between Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) will be tested with new challenges that are difficult for both of them. Not only will the two main returning players, Gabriel Luna and Rutina Wesley, appear in this season as Tommy and Maria.

Additionally, the second season of THE LAST OF US will also feature several new characters as previous players did not survive in the season prior.
