Kapanlagi.com - Talented Indonesian animator, Griselda Sastrawinata - Lemay, talks about her latest involvement in the highly anticipated Disney's 'WISH' animated film. As part of this special animated film, Griselda serves as the Associate Production Designer and contributes to designing costumes for the characters; Asha, King Magnifico, Queen Amaya, Valentino, and Star.
Although this is not her first time working on costume design for a Disney animated film, taking on this project is a unique experience for her, especially because "Wish" has a special background story. "This film is a work inspired by Disney's 100-year journey. Disney's 'WISH' is the beginning of the fairy tales we have loved all this time," explained Griselda.
In seeking inspiration for her work, Griselda explored various sources of material, such as European and North African history, to create unique costumes for the main character, Asha. But she also delved into several classic Disney animations to bring out details from some iconic films that will surely be recognized by fans when they see Disney's "Wish" in November.

Griselda Sastrawinata Lemay hails from Jakarta, Indonesia, where she lived for 15 years. She joined Walt Disney Animation Studios in 2015, and initially contributed as a Visual Development Artist for the Academy Award-nominated film, 'MOANA'.
Her recent contribution as a Visual Development Artist includes leading the costume design for the character Anna in the opening scene of 'FROZEN 2' and 'RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON', which was nominated for an Oscar and inspired by the traditional wayang kulit tradition found throughout Southeast Asia, as well as designing costumes for the Madrigal family in the Oscar-winning feature, 'ENCANTO'.
Griselda also served as the Character Design Lead for the holiday short film, 'OLAF'S FROZEN ADVENTURE', designing new costumes for the beloved 'FROZEN' characters and the citizens of Arendelle. Her additional credits include Visual Development for the Disney animated feature, 'RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET'. Sastrawinata-Lemay attended the Art Center College of Design, Sekolah Pelita Harapan, Ora Et Labora, and St. Bellarminus. She was inspired to pursue a career in the animation industry by classic Disney animations such as 'SLEEPING BEAUTY' and 'CINDERELLA'.

In her visit to Jakarta this time, Griselda Sastrawinata-Lemay also shared stories at various events such as IdeaFest 2023. In this largest creative festival, Griselda Sastrawinata-Lemay brought up the theme of The Art of Costume Design where she talked about the creative process behind the costumes of characters in Disney's 'WISH' movie.
In addition, Griselda Sastrawinata-Lemay also shared inspirational stories with more than storytellers, animators, and young creators who dream big to pursue the future in the creative industry through the Masterclass event. Held at BINUS University campus in Jakarta, this Masterclass was attended by more than 600 students who were present in person.
