Audience can interact virtually through one of the event sections presented by JFF 2023, namely "On-screen Talk 'DOWNTOWN ROCKET' with Tsuchiya Tao" on November 5, 2023.

For the first time, JFF will screen two episodes of a Japanese drama series titled DOWNTOWN ROCKET. This drama stars Tsuchiya and Hiroshi Abe.

Released in October 2015, the series DOWNTOWN ROCKET is based on a novel titled SHITAMACHI ROCKET by Jun Ikedo. This novel, published in 2008, was adapted into a series that tells the story of a father's struggle to make a major decision amid conflicts with his daughter named Rina, played by Tsuchiya Tao.

Meanwhile, Kohei, played by Hiroshi Abe, is running a family-owned factory but is faced with a problem. Therefore, Kohei must decide whether to give his company to a larger corporation or to hold on to his dream of developing a rocket engine.
