10 Interesting Things at the Golden Disc Awards 2024 Jakarta, Indonesian K-Pop Fans Deserve Appreciation for Their Positive Energy

Kapanlagi.com - The Golden Disc Awards 2024 or GDA was successfully held in Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) on Saturday (6/1/2024). The event was attended by a series of K-Pop stars and legendary South Korean musicians, as well as the presence of Indonesian K-Pop fans, which added to the festive atmosphere.

The event itself could actually be watched on television or via streaming. And for those who haven't had the chance to watch it live or through streaming, here are some interesting things that happened at GDA 2024.

1. Zhang Hao ZB1 Banner Everywhere

For those who came to the JIS venue, they would immediately see a Korean artist banner among the campaign banners. And that banner is a tribute from fans of Zhang Hao ZEROBASEONE to welcome their idol's arrival in Jakarta and show support for this 23-year-old man at the GDA event.

Not only that. Zhang Hao's banner air balloons also adorned the sky of JIS. Truly limitless dedication for their idol.

2. Stage and Amazing Visual Effects

The stage setup and visual effects for all performances deserve a standing ovation. The videos on the screen are made to match the song or special performance of each artist. From flower effects, teddy bears, to underwater scenes.

The props for the performing artists are also top-notch. From stairs for Stray Kids' performance to a shell-like throne for IVE, everything is made with great intention. Not to mention the fire bursts and confetti effects that make the audience cheer with excitement.

3. LA POEM's Voice Sends Shivers

In addition to K-Pop stars, there is also LA POEM, a vocal group formed from the show Phantom Singer Season 3. In Indonesia, not many may know about them yet. But their performance at GDA yesterday successfully sent chills throughout the stadium.

LA POEM's powerful vocals started with their own version of the song I AM by IVE, which was very masculine. After that, LA POEM covered songs by Stray Kids, LE SSERAFIM, SEVENTEEN, and Jungkook. The audience was also thrilled to hear different versions of popular K-Pop songs combined with the amazing voices of the four LA POEM members.

4. Dino Joins BSS in 'Fighting'

One of the unforgettable performances at GDA 2024 was BSS performing their hit song, Fighting, which went viral. In addition to Seungkwan, Hoshi, and DK's amazing vocals and their always energetic stage presence, there was something else interesting.

Dino, the maknae of SEVENTEEN, surprised everyone by joining BSS for the performance. The audience went wild when they found out that Dino was participating. Dino was also chosen as the ending fairy for BSS's performance this time.

5. A Truly Special Stage

Like any other award show, there were special performances by the artists. Fortunately, at GDA, the audience had the opportunity to see K-Pop artists covering songs by other singers live.

First, Taesan and Jaehyun from BOYNEXTDOOR performed their version of BLACKPINK's song Shut Down. Taesan and Jaehyun made the song their own.

Then, there was a trio from ZEROBASEONE, Sung Hanbin, Taerae, and Zhang Hao, who sang IU's song Through The Night with a guitar. The three of them successfully created a mellow and lively atmosphere, and their handsome faces appeared on the big screen.

Lastly, a solo performance by Yeonjun of TXT made the stadium vibrate. He performed Taemin SHINee's song Guilty. Yeonjun's dance was truly amazing and drove the audience crazy.

6. Kazuha and His Arrow

The LE SSERAFIM performance began with a special stage act. Before performing Unforgiven, their appearance was preceded by a video shown on the big screen. After that, they appeared and danced briefly.

LE SSERAFIM then moved to the front stage and Kazuha took the bow and arrow. He seemed to release an arrow and fire effects appeared on the stage, making the fans cheer with excitement.

7. YB, the Most Rock N Roll

YB, the legendary rock band from Korea, also performed with great charisma. In addition to performing with LE SSERAFIM, they also performed some really rock n roll songs.

Yoon Do Hyun's voice is truly amazing. Although YB may not be very familiar among Indonesian K-Pop viewers, their stage performance and the songs they performed successfully added to the lively atmosphere.

8. Daesang Moment

Until now, most Indonesian K-Pop fans have watched the announcement of the daesang through the television screen, but this time there are those who can directly feel this magical moment. Especially for NewJeans and SEVENTEEN fans whose idols have successfully brought home the daesang awards for Digital Song and Album respectively.

What's even sweeter is that their daesang awards were announced by two top Korean actors. Ha Jung Woo announced the daesang award for Digital Song. Meanwhile, the daesang award for Album was announced by actor KING THE LAND, Lee Junho.

Of course, it is also touching for fans to see their idols giving victory speeches. Every time a member speaks and their face is highlighted on the screen, loud cheers can be heard from all corners. In short, fans and idols are equally happy.

9. Ending Moment

After the announcement of the daesang and the MC's closing, all the performers will go up on stage together to greet the fans. Of course, fans who were sitting down immediately stood up to get closer to the stage.

Hats off to Indonesian fans who watched GDA 2024 live. Every performance received loud cheers, applause, and many waving lightsticks even though the performers were not their idols.

For example, when Parc Jae Jung performed his signature song Let's Say Goodbye. When he finished his high note part, the audience immediately screamed in admiration for his beautiful voice. The same goes for when the rock band YB performed. Even though the audience may not be familiar with their songs, they still showed appreciation.

Of course, for fans whose idols performed on stage, their screams could make the entire venue shake. Kudos to Carats, Engenes, and Stays who were the most enthusiastic but still remained supportive of other artists.
