10 Korean Stars Who are Exempt from Military Service, Fans Won't Miss Them But Feel Sad When They Know the Reason

'STEEL RAIN' star Jung Woo Sung couldn't enlist in the military because he dropped out of school due to difficult circumstances. According to Korea Herald, potential soldiers should have a high school diploma to enlist in military service. However, this rule is no longer applicable as it was abolished in 2021.

Eun Ji Won was also exempted from military service due to lack of education requirements. Eun Ji Won, who attended school in Hawaii during middle school, became a transfer student at Kent Foreigners School when he returned to Korea. However, his education was not recognized. Eun Ji Won was only considered a middle school graduate, which made him exempt from military service.

Actor 'MY LOVE FROM THE STAR' Park Hae Jin was declared exempt from military service in 2004. The actor's lawyer stated in 2010 that Park Hae Jin received exemption due to his struggle against depression and social phobia.

'HOSPITAL PLAYLIST' star Jo Jung Suk was exempted from military service due to family circumstances. This 40-year-old actor became the main caregiver and the sole backbone for his mother after losing his father at a young age.

Almost similar to Jo Jung Suk's case, comedian Jeong Jun Ha was also exempted from military service because he is the only son of the fourth generation in his family.

Yoo Ah In was exempted from military service due to health issues. He was diagnosed with bone tumor in 2015. He also suffered a shoulder muscle injury while filming 'TOUGH AS IRON' (2013) and 'VENETIAN' (2015).

Seo In Guk initially entered military service in March 2017. Four days later, he was exempted from military service due to a severe Osteochondritis dissecans ankle injury.

Jang Dong Gun suffered from pneumothorax while he was still in high school, which required him to be hospitalized for a major surgery. Due to his condition, which made it difficult for him to even complete his studies, he was exempted from military service.
