NewJeans has officially changed their name to NJZ amid a prolonged legal dispute with the Ador agency. This change was announced exclusively in an interview with CNN, where the members
described this rebranding as a way to face difficult times with a new spirit.

NJZ will appear with their new name for the first time at the ComplexCon Hong Kong festival next March, while also releasing their latest song.
The rumors about this name change have actually been circulating since November 2023, when the members announced the termination of their contract with Ador during a press conference.
At that time, they accused the label of manipulation, workplace harassment, and intentionally misinterpreted communication.
Ador itself denied these allegations and filed a lawsuit to uphold their contract with the group.
The name NJZ was chosen because it retains the "essence" of their old identity, NewJeans.
Danielle Marsh stated that although they have to leave the name NewJeans, they do not want to completely let go of the memories and experiences they have built over time.
On the other hand, this change also brings a new creative direction for the group, including the exploration of bolder music and visual concepts.
Pham Ngoc Han or Hanni expressed that NJZ wants to experiment with a sharper and more energetic stage style.
They also plan to showcase more streetwear elements and unisex fashion in their concept.
