2. ON YOUR WEDDING DAY

Once again bringing up the theme of first love, ON YOUR WEDDING DAY is a film that was first released in 2018 and starred two top Korean actors. Kim Young Kwang portrays the character Hwang Woo Yeon, while Park Bo Young plays Hwan Seung Hee.

The story itself revolves around Woo Yeon and Seung Hee during their high school days. Seung Hee is a transfer student whose charm often attracts unwanted attention from male students at school. To avoid being bothered, she pretends to be dating Woo Yeon. Slowly but surely, Woo Yeon falls in love for real with Seung Hee.

Unfortunately, Seung Hee's troubled family dynamics, with her alcoholic father, cause a problem. She decides to leave Woo Yeon and move away with her mother. A year later, they meet again while attending the same university. Woo Yeon still harbors feelings for Seung Hee, but unfortunately, at that time, Seung Hee already has a boyfriend. 

Woo Yeon, who continues to pursue her, eventually succeeds in winning Seung Hee's heart. They rekindle their relationship for a considerable amount of time. However, the ending can be guessed based on the film's title. Due to certain circumstances, Seung Hee chooses to leave Woo Yeon and marry someone else. The film carries an important message: Love is all about timing. It's deep and heartbreaking, isn't it?

3. Josee

If this film was just released in 2020 and stars Han Ji Min and Nam Joo Hyuk as the main cast. So one of the most anticipated Korean films last year, Josee didn't miss making people sad.

The storyline itself tells about Josee (Han Ji Min), a young girl who has many dreams but is hindered by her own limitations. One day, she meets Lee Young Seok (Nam Joo Hyuk), who is known as a playboy and often charms people. Unexpectedly, they become close and fall in love with each other.

Although they experience happy moments together, in the end, Josee chooses to let go of Young Seok because she doesn't want to burden him with her limitations. It's realistic, but still makes you sad when watching.
