Some of us may only know about boy and girlbands in the K-Pop world. But apparently, Korean music is not only about boy and girlbands. They also have quality bands. Although not as popular as boy and girlbands, they are still cool.

1. LUCY

LUCY consists of 4 members, Cho Wonsang (music producer and bassist), Choi Sangyeop (lead vocalist and guitarist), Shin Gwangil (vocalist and drummer), and Shin Yechan (leader and violinist). The band was formed from a survival show called SUPERBAND (2019) organized by JTBC. They officially debuted in May 2020 under Mystic Story Entertainment.

The name LUCY was taken from the name of a dog that lived near their practice place and they used to play with. This band has a uniqueness compared to other bands because they have a violinist. In addition, their fresh musical style makes them different from others.

2. The Rose

The Rose is a band that embraces the indie pop/British pop genre. Before being named The Rose, the band was called Windfall and was formed in 2015. After Woosung joined, they officially debuted in 2017 under J&Star Company. However, due to contract cancellation conflicts, The Rose is now an independent group.

The Rose consists of 4 members, Jaehyeong (bassist), Woosung (vocalist and electric guitarist), Hajoon (drummer), and Dojoon (vocalist, acoustic guitarist, and keyboardist). They also participated in the show SUPERBAND produced by JTBC in 2019.

3. South Club

South Club is a South Korean band formed by Nam Taehyun after leaving Winner. The band consists of four members, Nam Taehyun, Lee Dongkeun, Kang Minjun, and Jung Hoemin.

South Club made their debut in 2017 under the agency South Buyers Club. They debuted with the single Hug Me, a melancholic song about loneliness. The song received positive response from the public and they started appearing in various shows and festivals. Currently, South Club is under P&B Entertainment.

4. GIFT

GIFT is a Korean rock band. The band consists of 3 members, Kim Hyung Woo (bassist), Lee Joo Hyuk (vocalist and guitarist), and Hwi Gyeom Jeong (drummer). They made their debut on May 10, 2018 under ROXTAMUZIK&LIVE.

GIFT is known for their covers of famous songs like Live High and I'm Yours by Jason Mraz, when they were busking in public spaces. They have also participated in a show produced by JTBC called SUPERBAND.

5. Hoppipolla

Hoppipolla is a band formed on the show SUPERBAND in 2019, which eventually became the winner of the competition. This band officially started activities under the management of MOSS Music and Dreamus since July 2019. They released a single titled About Time in November 2019.

Hoppipolla is a four-member band. They consist of Ha Hyunsang, Kim Youngso, I'll & Hong Jinho. Before joining Hoppipolla, I'll and Ha Hyunsang had previously debuted as solo singers. One of the uniqueness of this band is the presence of Hong Jinho, a skilled and talented cellist.
