ALL OF US ARE DEAD is adapted from a popular webtoon by Joo Dong Geun, known as a 'Korean-style graphic novel zombie' for its wild imagination, thrilling story, and meticulous details. The high popularity of this webtoon is also the reason why the actors joined the live-action series ALL OF US ARE DEAD.

Yoon Chan Young expressed his enthusiasm when offered the audition because he was familiar with the original webtoon. Actress Lee You Mi also commented, "I have read the original webtoon and have always been curious about the character I will play. It is an honor for me to be able to portray it."

For director Lee JQ himself, there is pressure and a great responsibility in adapting a legendary webtoon. "We met with the original writer and had many discussions about how we could bring the story to life. We want to explore what kind of hope should be brought when living life and what it means to be human. Not only entertaining, but we also want to create a drama that makes people think."

2. Differentiating Factors from Similar Dramas

Although zombies are not a foreign genre in the Korean film industry, ALL OF US ARE DEAD has unique factors that differentiate it from others. According to the director, this series focuses on school as its main setting where we can see young kids making their choices.

Actor Lim Jae Hyeok added that the school setting also doesn't allow students to have powerful weapons - like guns - as in other zombie stories. "We only use what's around us, like school equipment, desks, and chairs. I think this is a very distinguishing factor," said Lim Jae Hyeok.

3. Challenging Combat Training

Featuring many combat scenes, the actors needed three months of challenging training. Yoon Chan Young shared the story of the intense martial arts training he underwent for an hour, three times a day. The effects of this training were also felt by Lomon, who could only lie in bed for three days and needed acupuncture.

Director Lee JQ also talked about his initial concerns and the fight director's concerns about the actors seemingly needing stunt doubles. "Although I was initially worried, they quickly recovered because they are still young. They are able to build up energy quickly," said the director.

4. Only One High School Student in the Cast

Although most of the characters are high school students, in reality, only Park Ji Hu is still in school. "I am now 20 years old, but I am the same age as On-jo during filming. Sometimes I went to the filming location wearing my actual school uniform before changing into the school uniform for this series."

His young age also led Ji-hu to often call his co-stars 'pamam' and 'bibi,' including Lim Jae Hyeok and Lee You Mi.

5. Friendship Between Two Arch Enemies

In this series, the character Yoon Gwi-nam, played by Yoo In Soo, wants to seek revenge against Lee Cheong-san, played by Yoon Chan Young. However, in real life, these two actors are actually close friends.

In Ssoo expressed his frustration about Chan Young removing the character name sticker from his phone. "Actually, none of my co-stars here wanted to put my character name. But with Chan Young, we talk every day! He is my close friend. Knowing that he removed my name from his phone, I felt very hurt," said In Soo.

Their friendship is also evident when both of them vomit after going through challenging training!

6. Choi Yi Hyun Enjoying the Role as a High School Student

This 22-year-old actress has a cute face that makes her look forever young. No wonder Choi Yi Hyun often gets trusted to play high school students, including in ALL OF US ARE DEAD. Her role as Choi Nam-ra, a cold and unfriendly class president, will surely steal attention with her character development.

Yi Hyun admits to enjoying playing younger roles than her actual age. "I'm happy to play characters who wear school uniforms. I have a youthful-looking face, and I think that's the secret to
portraying these roles. I'm ready to take on other high school student roles," said Choi Yi Hyun.

7. Songwriter and Singer Lim Jae Hyeok

Playing a character who wants to become a singer, no one expected that Lim Jae Hyeok can also create songs! In one scene, his character sings a song to entertain his friends. Director Lee JQ challenged Jae-hyeok to create his own song.

"I tried to think about what these kids wanted to hear. I think 'Let's Go Home' is the right choice, so I started from there," said
Jae Hyeok.
