8 Korean Dramas that are Quite Popular on Streaming Services but Have Low Ratings in Korea, Including 'SH**TING STARS' and 'LOVE ALL PLAY'

Now, Korean drama fans are increasingly facilitated with the many access given to watch and access the latest Korean dramas. Fans outside Korea are also able to access the latest Korean dramas without any obstacles. However, because they are broadcast in two places (on Korean TV stations and streaming services), there are often dramas that are not too popular on Korean TV but on the other hand are popular on international streaming services.

The first drama we will discuss is a drama by an actor who has just had a fanmeet with fans in the homeland, namely Kim Young Dae. This drama is titled Sh**ting Stars and stars a handful of popular actors and actresses such as Lee Seung Kyung, Sojin Girls'Day, Yoon Jung Hoon.

Although the actors and cameos in this drama are quite popular, it cannot boost the ratings of this drama in Korea. In its first episode, this drama only achieved a rating of 1.8% and episode 16 was at 1.4%. Of course, this number is quite low compared to their previous drama ratings. However, this drama is quite popular and often discussed by international fans. Broadcasted directly on the VIU application, this drama is included in the top fans pick!

2. LOVE ALL PLAY

Next is 'TODAY'S WEBTOON' starring Kim Sejeong, Seok Ji Hyung, and Goo Jun Jeong. The story revolves around the lives of webtoon illustrators and cartoonists, but it is not very popular among Korean drama fans, with a rating of 2.9%. This is a significant gap compared to Kim Sejeong's previous drama 'BUSINESS PROPOSAL,' which had a rating of 11.4%. The drama is also not widely discussed in Indonesia, despite being accessible through the VIU app. Even with Kim Sejeong's popularity, it has not been able to help the ratings of this drama.

3. LOVE ALL PLAY

Next is the teenage drama 'LOVE ALL PLAY,' which tells the story of a romance between badminton athletes at a national athletic school in Korea. Starring actors and visual actresses like Park Ju Hyun and Chae Jong Yeop, the drama is stuck at a low rating of 1.9%. Although the story is fresh and light, it does not attract much attention from South Koreans. However, the drama is quite popular in Indonesia, and it can be watched on IQIYI. It is frequently discussed on social media.

4. TOMORROW

Next is the fantasy-history drama 'TOMORROW.' Despite having an interesting storyline, the drama experienced a significant decrease in ratings towards the end of its episodes. Although it began with a relatively high rating of 8.9%, it could not maintain it until the end and ended up with a rating of 3.4%. The drama is available on the streaming app NETFLIX and is quite popular in Indonesia. Starring four main characters Ro Woon, Kim Hee Seon, Lee So Hyuk, and Yun Ji On, the drama is among the top searches on Netflix Indonesia.

5. THE ONE AND ONLY

Next is a drama starring Joy Red Velvet, Ahn Eun Jin, and Gang Ye Won. Although the drama features popular actresses and an idol, it did not receive high ratings. Despite having an interesting storyline about the tragic lives of the three main characters, the drama did not achieve high ratings. It did not even reach 1% and only managed to get a rating of 0.5%.

6. LOVE IS FOR SUCKERS

Next is a drama starring an idol among idols, namely Siwon Super Junior. Starring in several dramas, the drama starring Siwon and Lee Da Hee was enough to make fans' hearts flutter. With only a rating of 0.8%, this drama wasn't very popular among fans in Korea.

However, it was quite different internationally. Especially since the drama is starred by Siwon and has an interesting plot, it caught the attention of fans.

7. MYSTIC POP UP BAR

Next up is a drama starring Sungjae BTOB called 'MYSTIC POP UP BAR'. Telling the story of a bar that can time travel, this drama did not have high ratings in South Korea.

With a final rating of 3%, the drama didn't attract much attention from the public despite its unique plot. Nonetheless, it was quite popular in Indonesia and even became a top search on Netflix Indonesia.

8. ABYSS

Lastly, there's a drama starring Park Bo Young and Ahn Hyo Seop called 'ABYSS'. Despite being starred by popular actors, this drama also wasn't very popular among drama fans in Korea. With a final rating of 2.2%, the drama didn't show any improvement in ratings from beginning to end.

Of course, this drama's ratings were quite far behind Park Bo Young's previous drama called 'STRONG WOMAN DO BONG SON' which reached ratings up to 9.6%. Nonetheless, it still attracted international fans including Indonesia because of the unique chemistry between Park Bo Young and Ahn Hyo Seop.
