
Lee Jae Myung of the Democratic Party was elected as the President of South Korea in the election held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. This victory came exactly six months after his action of breaching military barricades to oppose the military emergency decree imposed by then-President Yoon Suk Yeol. This election recorded the highest voter turnout since 1997, with nearly 80 percent of the 44.39 million eligible voters casting their ballots.
