Accused of Being a Third Party, Warner Music Denies Persuading FIFTY FIFTY Members to Switch Agencies

In response to the news, ATTRAKT released an official statement on June 23, 2023. The label began their statement by thanking their fans before revealing that FIFTY FIFTY is inactive due to one of their members' medical issues.

"We would like to thank our fans, both domestically and internationally, who have tirelessly supported us over the past few months. We realize that many fans are worried because the group has not been promoting during this critical period in their career. To be honest, one of our members is having a medical issue, and after consulting with doctors and family, the member underwent surgery on May 2. Following the doctor's recommendation to rest for 1-2 months, we have given the members time to rest because their health is the most important thing," ATTRAKT wrote in their statement.

1. Members Approached by Other Agencies

ATTRAKT then revealed that the label has been preparing for the promotion of an upcoming group. However, their plans were disrupted by other agencies that approached the members and asked them to sign contracts with their agency.

"We have been expanding our system and making preparations to better support our artists. Rather than focusing on short-term profits, we prioritize the long-term careers of our artists. However, as we were making preparations, another label approached the artists and tried to persuade them to breach their exclusive contracts. These outsiders, through false accusations against us, have persuaded the artists to make mistakes by disregarding their legal contracts and signing contracts with them," said ATTRAKT.

2. Will Take Legal Action

Furthermore, ATTRAKT promised to take legal action against the external party, stating that the group's contract violation would set a dangerous precedent for both the K-Pop industry as a whole and the group specifically, both now and in the future.

"The actions of this external party not only trample on the sincere support of the fans for the group, but also tarnish the image of a group that debuted just 7 months ago and could be very detrimental to K-Pop as an industry. Although we are a small label, we have great expectations and have worked to achieve the impossible against miraculous odds. We have written and continue to write history, and fans both domestic and international support us. Although it is difficult to contain anger over the illegal actions taken by the external party to rob the miracle created by this powerless small label, we will respond boldly without emotion and will fight to the end to hold them accountable legally," said ATTRAKT.

3. Promise to Protect the Group

The label ended their statement by emphasizing their desire to fight to protect the group and the label.

"Chung Mu Gong once said, 'Those who try to die will live, and those who try to live will die.' We will keep these words close to our hearts and fight to protect our artists who have become valuable national figures and work harder to facilitate their growth in return for the love given to us by fans," concluded ATTRAKT.

4. Involvement of Warner Music Korea

In a new statement on June 26, the agency released another statement and named Warner Music Korea as one of the external parties involved. ATTRAKT's statement read, "It turns out that outsourcing companies and Warner Music Korea were involved in a recent incident where external sources attempted to lure members with illegal intent."

The agency also added that they have collected evidence from outsourcing companies offering to sell the group to Warner Music Korea and they plan to take legal action.

5. Response from Warner Music Korea

In response to the allegations, Warner Music Korea released a statement denying all accusations. The label stated, "The claims made by Attrakt are baseless," and added that they were disappointed by the unfounded rumors.

We would like to inform you of our official stance regarding the claims made by ATTRAKT, the agency representing the rookie girl group FIFTY FIFTY.

First, Warner Music Korea has been working with FIFTY FIFTY as a foreign distributor since April 1, 2023. Since the contract was signed, we have utilized the capabilities and network of Warner Music Group to ensure the success of FIFTY FIFTY and their agency. Therefore, we are very sorry to have caused such unfounded suspicion.

Warner Music Korea has strived to do its best as a global distributor while respecting the opinions of artists and their agencies, as demonstrated by our various achievements.
