Then, on August 8th, SM Entertainment announced the third unit of NCT, which is NCT Dream, consisting of 7 members. So, in total, in 2016, NCT had 15 members. After that, in 2017, NCT 127 added 2 more members. So, in 2017, the total number of NCT members was 17.

In 2018, NCT added 3 new members at the beginning of the year. Then, in 2019, NCT added 3 more new members. And at the end of last year, 2020, NCT added 2 more members, making the total number of NCT members in 2021 to be 23. At the beginning of their debut, NCT 127 consisted of only 7 personnel, namely Taeyong NCT, Taeil NCT, Yuta NCT, Jaehyun NCT, Winwin NCT, Mark NCT, and Haechan NCT. After that, Doyoung NCT and Johnny NC joined NCT 127 on December 27, 2016. Then, Jungwoo NCT joined on September 17, 2018.

At the end of 2016, NCT created a new sub-group called NCT Dream. all NCT Dream members are under 20 years old. Once they reach that age, they have to move to another NCT unit. The current members of NCT are Mark NCT, Haechan NCT, Renjun NCT, Jeno NCT, Jaemin NCT, Chenle NCT, and Jisung NCT.

1. NCT Hollywood

SM Entertainment producer, Lee Soo Man, will be the host of an online event called "SM Congress 2021". In the event, Soo Man stated that there will be a new unit this year for NCT, and that unit is NCT Hollywood. Mark NCT briefly explained the formation process of NCT Hollywood.

Not a trivial project, in the creation of this new unit, SM Entertainment collaborated with MGM, a well-known production company in the United States. The recruitment of NCT Hollywood members also took place in Uncle Sam's country through auditions. Doyoung added that Soo Man will serve as a producer and several NCT members have been appointed as mentors for NCT Hollywood.

The Chairman of MGM, Mark Burnett, stated in a short video that 21 individuals will be selected to join SM in Seoul, South Korea and undergo training in the K-Pop bootcamp. The winners of the bootcamp will debut under the name NCT Hollywood. The series of events from auditions to the formation of this unit is called K-Pop Goes Hollywood.
