BLACKPINK Makes History! 'BORN PINK' Becomes the First Female K-Pop Album to Spend 2 Weeks in Top 4 Billboard 200

BLACKPINK is a South Korean female vocal group formed by YG Entertainment in August 2016. BLACKPINK consists of four members, namely Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rose.

BLACKPINK made history, as their second studio album BORN PINK debuted on the Billboard 200 (weekly chart of the most popular albums in the United States).

On Sunday (2/10), Billboard announced that BORN PINK ranked no. 4 on the chart, making it the first album by any female K-pop artist in history to spend two weeks in the top five of the Billboard 200.

According to Luminate, BORN PINK obtained a total of 40,000 album units in its second week on the chart. This is a valuable achievement and pride for BLACKPINK themselves and also BLINK (the name for BLACKPINK fans).

READY FOR LOVE is a single by BLACKPINK released on July 29, 2022 as a collaboration song with PUBG Mobile. Interestingly, the MV for READY FOR LOVE features Jennie, Rose, Lisa, and Jisoo in the form of virtual avatars.

As the title suggests, the song READY FOR LOVE tells the story of someone who is ready to accept the love of their beloved. On BLACKPINK's YouTube channel, the MV for READY FOR LOVE has been viewed over 98 million times.

2. PINK VENOM

PINK VENOM is a pre-release single from the album BORN PINK. The single was released on August 19, 2022, coinciding with BLACKPINK's anniversary celebration.

BLACKPINK fans, also known as BLINK, couldn't wait for the release of the song PINK VENOM. Especially since BLACKPINK made a comeback after a hiatus of approximately 2 years. There was no reason given for BLACKPINK's disappearance for such a long period of time.

PINK VENOM is a hip-hop genre song that showcases BLACKPINK's uniqueness. It combines traditional Korean instruments (Geomungo) with a hip-hop and rap style that is characteristic of BLACKPINK.

3. SHUT DOWN

SHUT DOWN is a single by BLACKPINK released on Friday (16/9). This single combines the classical violin solo music La campanella by Nicolo Paganini with the unique hip-hop style of BLACKPINK.

In addition to releasing the album BORN PINK, BLACKPINK will also be holding a series of world tours in October.
