Kapanlagi.com - A surprising achievement has just been recorded by Bangtan Boys (BTS). This week, the boy band under the BigHit Entertainment label successfully topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart with their latest single Dynamite.

It should be noted that BTS is the first Korean artist to successfully reach the highest position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The previous highest achievement by a Korean musician was held by PSY, who reached number 2 in 2012 with the song Gangnam Style.

Jungkook and his friends successfully dethroned Cardi B featuring Megan Thee Stallion's single WAP, which previously held the top position on the chart. In addition, BTS also surpassed several other world-renowned musicians such as Drake (#3), The Weeknd (#5), Harry Styles (#7), and many more.

Since its release on August 21, 2020, BTS's single 'Dynamite' has sold 265,000 copies digitally. Meanwhile, according to Nielsen Music / MRC Data, 'Dynamite' has reached 33.9 million streams in the United States.

Previously, BTS's highest achievement on the Billboard Hot 100 was reaching number 4 with the song 'On' in March.

BTS's remarkable achievement has not only been celebrated by BTS Army, but also by the President of South Korea, Moon Jae In. A proud statement was even written directly by the president through a tweet on his official Twitter account @moonriver365.

"BTS has achieved their first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking a new chapter in K-pop history as the first Korean band to do so. After topping the Billboard 200 chart four times with their main albums, they have now reached No. 1 on both charts," wrote Moon Jae In in his tweet on Tuesday (9/1/2020).

"It's truly amazing. This is an extraordinary achievement that further enhances the pride in K-pop. The song 'Dynamite' topping the chart becomes more meaningful as it was created to deliver a message of comfort and hope to people around the world who are struggling with Covid-19," continued Moon Jae In.
