Cha Eunwoo Reveals Preparations for the Film “The First Ride” Before Military Service

1. Q: What Made You Join the Project 'The First Ride?'

"After meeting director Nam Dae Joong and discussing a few times, I became interested in this project. Personally, I enjoy the comedy genre and wanted to take on the challenge. Most importantly, the script is really funny, and I think it will be enjoyable to work with the other actors, so I decided to join."

2. Q: Tell us about your character, Yeon Min.

"Yeon Min is a quiet and somewhat introverted man, but when he is with his friends, he shows a unique side. He is handsome and small in stature, but he has big aspirations to become a famous DJ in the world, even though he is somewhat of a loner."

3. Q: What was your first impression of the script?

"The script contains a lot of narration from Yeon Min, from beginning to end, and it honestly made me feel a bit pressured. But the script is also interesting. I like how the story starts from the perspective of the observer Yeon Min, which feels fresh. Overall, this film captures the youth of these five friends, and it really reminds me of my more innocent youth."

4. Q: Focus of the Scene 'The First Ride?'

"It's been a long time since I wore a school uniform, so I tried to bring a pure and honest vibe. I also paid attention to the contrast that the director wanted to highlight at the end of the story, so that the emotional changes felt natural."

5. Q: Any Memorable Moments with the Cast?

"I have always admired Kang Ha Neul sunbaenim; I even watched one of his dramas. I greeted him back then, and this is the first time we really collaborated. He is always cheerful on set. Even while getting his makeup done, he would greet everyone with a warm, 'Hi! Hi, hi!' and brighten the atmosphere. He is a senior, a friend, and a warm brother who often suggests ideas like, 'How about we try it this way?' to make the scenes better.

As for Young Kwang hyung, we first met when I was twenty years old on the show 'Law of the Jungle', so when we were reunited, it felt very comfortable since we had been close for a long time, and it was easy to chat and share ideas.

For Geum Bok and Young Seok hyung, his performance in the film was very funny. He wore a wig in one of his scenes, then shaved his head because his character becomes a monk. He is a fun, laid-back guy who always cracks jokes, so the atmosphere on set is always lively and full of laughter."

"Youth. Youth is enchanting and beautiful, but it also comes with pain, lessons, and growth. 'The First Ride' captures that blend through the first journey of friends together, they experience, learn, and grow. That is why the word 'youth' feels right for this film."
