Challenged to Play a Soldier Character in the Latest Drama, Krystal Even Joined Training at a Martial Arts School

SEARCH itself is a mystery thriller drama about a special search group that goes to uncover the truth behind missing persons cases and mysterious murders in the demilitarized zone (DMZ). Krystal plays Son Ye Rim, a highly intelligent and capable lieutenant who joins the investigation team as a special officer.

Regarding her role, Krystal revealed that she feels challenged by a new type of character that she has never tried before in her acting career. Through this character, Krystal hopes to show a different side of herself to the audience.

"Everything about portraying a soldier is a big challenge. Although the script is also enjoyable, I am very interested in the fact that the character is a soldier, because I have never tried it before," said Krystal as quoted from Soompi.

"This is a project that I hope can make people discover a new side of me that is different from the public's perception of Jung Soo Jung [Krystal's birth name]," she added.

Furthermore, Krystal gave a hint about the character she portrays. The character named Son Ye Rim is acknowledged by Krystal as someone who has a lot of charm.

"She only says what needs to be said, and being able to remain calm in any situation is her strength. She is truly elite, with inherent physical strength, a sharp mind, and fiery competitiveness. Even her emotions are not easily affected in dangerous situations she encounters in the DMZ. She focuses on her mission to lead the investigation team flexibly," she explained.

"I interviewed real soldiers and when I attended combat school, I learned about various movements and proper shooting positions. Although it was difficult, because I enjoy being physically active, I also enjoyed it," she said.
