Taeyeon's parents are known as Kim Jong Gu and Kim Hee Ja. She also has two siblings, an older brother named Kim Ji Woong and a younger sister named Kim Hayeon.

Taeyeon's exceptional musical talent is inherited from both of her parents. Her father was a former vocalist in a band and her mother once won a singing competition as a child.

Currently, her parents are busy working at their own eyewear store. Taeyeon has even been a model for the store.
