Feeling Unattractive, Solar MAMAMOO Didn't Dare to Audition at SM Entertainment Before Debut

The leader of MAMAMOO, Solar, became a guest on the show Yoo Hee Yeol Sketchbook which aired on Friday (17/1/2020). In the show, Solar talked about how difficult it was for her to become a famous K-Pop idol like she is now.

"I used to sing on the streets. People from the music industry were there and offered to recruit me. But at that time, I wanted to be a flight attendant more than a singer, so I rejected it," said Solar, as quoted from Allkpop.

1. 50 Times Audition

While preparing to become a flight attendant, singer Kim Yongsun, whose real name is, admitted that she constantly thinks about singing. She wondered to herself whether she should try to become a singer because she really loves love songs.

"That's why I participated in many auditions. I think I participated in about 50 auditions, but almost all of them failed," said Solar.

2. Afraid to Audition at SM

In Korea, there are many entertainment agencies that hold auditions. Solar openly admitted that she never tried to become an artist at SM Entertainment. She then explained her reasons.

"I would never pass (an audition at SM) because of my appearance. I know I would be rejected. That's why I told myself that instead of hurting myself, it's better not to audition at SM," she concluded.

The important thing is that Solar is very successful now!
