Heo Nam Jun shared his past story while appearing on "You Quiz On The Block" on June 24, 2026. The handsome actor revealed the struggles he went through before becoming widely known as a Korean drama star.
To meet his living needs and pursue his dreams, he was willing to work on construction projects for months without a break. This experience became an important part of his career journey to achieve success like he has today.
Before becoming famous, Heo Nam Jun started his day at 4:00 AM. He went to the labor dispatch office to get daily projects that he could work on.
The actor admitted to working every day for three consecutive months. He kept up that tight schedule without any breaks to earn a more stable income.
Heo Nam Jun worked various jobs at construction sites, including a construction project in Gwacheon. Heavy physical activity as a laborer became his daily routine at that time.
In a day, he could earn about 130,000 Won or around 1.5 million IDR. If calculated over a full week, his earnings reached about 910,000 Won (around 10.5 million IDR).
Although used to maintaining physical fitness, construction work still presents significant challenges. He admitted that the physical demands are much heavier than he imagined.
Moreover, Heo Nam Jun is afraid of heights. When asked to carry a long pipe on the cliff, Heo Nam Jun admitted he couldn't do it. His honest response even impressed his superior and led to another job offer.
In addition to working on construction projects, Heo Nam Jun also tried working as a shoe salesman in a department store. However, he felt that the work system didn't suit him.
