Q: HOSPITAL PLAYLIST has a unique storytelling style, will RESIDENT PLAYBOOK follow the same format?

Shin Won Ho: If we talk about storytelling style, it can be said to be similar. Writer Kim Song Hee is also involved in writing REPLY 1988, I think she is already used to writing dramas in this way. From there, we naturally direct. Our goal in every drama we create for the audience is empathy, to relate to the story. We do this by providing scenes that relate to life. Those scenes appear continuously, making the audience feel empathy, 'Oh, it turns out that others also have lives similar to mine.' That is our goal in making this drama. In this drama, we also convey a similar message to the audience.

Q: For Shin Won Ho, you always cast new actors. This time, why did you choose Go Youn Jung?

Shin Won Ho:
During the audition, we went through a very long process. Of course, it wasn't just me casting, but together with director Lee Min Soo and writer Kim Song Hee. One by one we cast them, and if I were to tell you about Go Youn Jung, she is not a new actress; she has been involved in many projects and can already be considered a star. I have heard about her acting skills, and an actress as beautiful as she is surely wouldn't disappoint in her acting. Can I say there's a bias? Usually, for someone who has never appeared on a variety show, what is her true character like? I wanted to meet her in person. It turns out she is beyond my expectations. Her outer appearance is like this, but she actually has a character that differs from what one might perceive. She is very easy-going, and usually when someone becomes a star, they change; however, she is very down to earth. She is like an ordinary person in the way she speaks and her mindset remains the same. In acting, what you need to have is the ability to try to act as naturally as possible, like how an ordinary person behaves and expresses themselves. But because she is so simple as a star, that is interesting to me. Besides that, I think there are several points that are very similar to the character Oh Yi Yeong. After about two meetings, she has many strengths as an actress. As you know, she is very beautiful. What I like the most is her expressionless face. The hardest acting to do is without expression. We cannot guess if she is sad, angry, or laughing. That is very difficult to do.
On the other hand, Go Youn Jung, even when she is silent, we do not know what she is thinking. That is her advantage as an actress where she can display a zero expression or no expression. From that blank expression, she can then switch to a sad, angry, or other expression just by lowering her eyebrows. Even though she may not realize it. With a little expression, she can have a big impact. A feeling conveyed to the audience. With just a little expression, she can communicate it. She gives this much expression when she is angry; if she is slightly angry, she can reduce it. In one feeling, she can express it in many ways. She has that kind of ability. Moreover, he is also diligent and works hard. For this reason, even with his abilities and hard work, I have no reason not to collaborate with him.
