The Japanese Film Festival is back to entertain film and culture enthusiasts from the Land of Sakura this year! Since 2016, the Japanese Film Festival has been an annual event organized by The Japan Foundation. This year, the Japanese Film Festival will be held from November 2 to January 28, 2024. Starting from Rp15,000, you can already enjoy Japanese films and dramas that are definitely awesome!
Did you know, KLovers? In previous years, the Japanese Film Festival was only held in four cities. But this year, the Japanese Film Festival feels more special because it is held in six major cities! They are Jakarta, Makassar, Bandung, Surabaya, Palembang, and Yogyakarta. Not only that, what makes this festival even more special is the larger number of film screenings compared to previous festivals, namely 21 films and 2 episodes of a drama series.
On Thursday (2/11/2023), the opening night of the Japanese Film Festival was held at CGV Grand Indonesia, Jakarta. From the stunning performance of Umaku Sanshin to the screening of the A MAN film with a mind-blowing plot twist, everything was truly amazing! Unique and cool, the opening night of the Japanese Film Festival 2023 was kicked off with a performance by Umaku Sanshin. They captured attention by playing the traditional Japanese musical instrument called sanshin, which originates from Okinawa.
In addition, the audience also had the opportunity to see Mr. Takahashi Yuichi, Director General of The Japan Foundation Jakarta, giving a warm welcome to the audience, KLovers!
"This year is special because we are celebrating the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Indonesia," said Mr. Takahashi Yuichi.
Not only Mr. Takahashi Yuichi, but also the Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia, Mr. Kanasugi Kenji, gave his speech to the audience.
Mr. Kanasugi Kenji said, "I think the good things about these films, some of them are based on novels and mangas. So, if you read mangas or novels before or after watching the film, you can enjoy yourself twice."
