Kwon Sang Woo to Lee Sang Yi Talk About Their Latest Drama, 'HAN RIVER POLICE'

Kapanlagi.com - The latest drama HAN RIVER POLICE will start airing on Disney+ Hotstar starting Wednesday (13/9) tomorrow. Starring Kwon Sang Woo, Kim Hee Won, and Lee Sang Yi, this drama about the Han River Police has a unique and interesting story that is rarely known.

As the air date is approaching, director and scriptwriter Kim Sang Cheol along with the cast of HAN RIVER POLICE held a virtual press conference today, Tuesday (12/9). It is there that they revealed various facts about their latest project.

Director Kim himself spoke about how the idea for this drama came about. In response to host Park Kyung Rim's question, he said, "At that time, I was casually walking around the Han River, like any other day. Suddenly, there was an accident, and I saw people wearing blue uniforms coming for a rescue mission. That's when I realized that there are actually Han River Police officers."

"We are very familiar with the Han River because it is close to our daily lives, but we didn't know about the existence of these special police officers. So, if I can share their story, it will definitely be enjoyable," he added.

1. Kwon Sang Woo Previously Unaware of the Han River Police Officers

Confirming what Director Kim said, Kwon Sang Woo, who played the character Sergeant Han Do Jin, admitted that he had no idea about the existence of the Han River Police Officers. "Actually, I didn't know about the Han River police (officers) either. But during the filming process, we had to meet and act with their uniforms on, so I could know about their existence," he said.

On this occasion, Kwon Sang Woo also revealed the reason why he accepted the offer to star in this drama. As an actor with extensive experience, he could immediately imagine what kind of visuals and action scenes would be presented to the audience.

"Speaking of the Han River, we always see it every day in movies and TV shows, and there is a lot of crime happening in movies and dramas. But imagine if those criminal actions happened in the Han River, there would definitely be a lot of splashing water, spectacular scenes, and other cool things. The Han River, which is always close to our lives, also has beautiful scenery, so I think the visuals in the drama will be good. That's why I'm very excited to be involved in this project," explained the actor whose name skyrocketed since starring in the drama STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN.

2. Kim Hee Won's Answer

Unlike Kwon Sang Woo, Kim Hee Won actually knew for a long time that there were river guards. However, he admitted that he never knew what tasks they had to do.

"I actually knew about them, but I didn't expect that they actually do a lot of work. Through this drama, I think there will be many people who finally realize the existence of the Han River Police and what tasks they have to do," he explained.

3. Lee Sang Yi Enjoys His Role as a Villain

The host then asked Lee Sang Yi, who played the villain character named Go Gi Seok. Unexpectedly, the actor born in 1991 actually liked the role given to him.

"The concept of the Han River police is very interesting, and I like my character as a villain. When reading the script, I liked the character Go Gi Seok so much that I immediately accepted it," said Lee Sang Yi.

Lee Sang Yi also admitted that he already knew about the Han River police because he had seen a documentary about them before. Thinking about shooting as a criminal in an area close to people's daily lives made him very excited.
