Lee Seung Gi's Building Project Disputed, Subcontractor Claims 16 Million Won

Kapanlagi.com - Lee Seung Gi is embroiled in a payment dispute over a building project in Jangchung-dong, Seoul. Amid the legal proceedings involving him and Cha Ga Won, a subcontractor identified as A has taken legal action regarding payment for work that is said to be unpaid.

According to JoongAng Ilbo on Monday, August 11, 2026, A's representative has sued construction company P, which previously handled the construction of Lee Seung Gi's building. In addition to the lawsuit, A also sent a demand letter to Lee Seung Gi's side to claim the unpaid work fees.

The plan for this residential building is said to have started in 2024, with construction work ongoing since January of last year. The project was entrusted to company P, which at that time was managed by Cha Ga Won, a representative of One Hundred and Piark Group.

1. Subcontractor Lawsuit and Demand Letter

Company A is reported to have received a plastering work package as a subcontract from P. In the process, A claims to have not received payment of about 16 million won or approximately Rp 190 million for the work done.

A's claim is based on the contract between A and P. The document states that the subcontract payment will be made directly by the project client, namely Lee Seung Gi. Relying on this clause, A then sent a demand letter to Lee Seung Gi last month requesting payment.

Lee Seung Gi reportedly rejected the request. The reason given was that company P allegedly used Lee Seung Gi's personal seal or stamp without permission when making the contract, thus they stated they could not fulfill the payment requested based on that contract.

2. Construction Progress and Final Payment Dispute

The construction of the building in Jangchung-dong experienced repeated delays. The project has recently been completed and is said to have obtained a usage permit.

After the final progress, Lee Seung Gi's side reportedly paid most of the construction costs. However, there are still a number of final payments that have not been settled.

On the other hand, Company P is requesting the entire remaining payment along with additional costs due to the project's delays to be paid before the building is handed over to Lee Seung Gi. The company then exercised its lien rights over the building. In response to this, Lee Seung Gi filed a request for a temporary injunction in court to demand that the building be handed over to him.

3. The Lee Seung Gi–Cha Ga Won Conflict in Another Domain

This project dispute coincides with another case between Lee Seung Gi and Cha Ga Won. Lee Seung Gi previously reported Cha Ga Won for alleged embezzlement related to the Big Planet Made agency.

Additionally, Lee Seung Gi is said to be preparing an additional report regarding allegations of rental fraud. He had previously rented a luxury villa owned by Cha Ga Won in Hannam-dong with a deposit of about 10.5 billion won or approximately Rp120 billion. After the contract period ended, the deposit is said to have not been returned.

In a separate development, a recording of a conversation between Cha Ga Won and a YouTuber circulated on August 7, 2026. In the recording, Cha Ga Won denied the rental fraud allegations and stated that she has many things that can still be revealed regarding the conflict with Lee Seung Gi. She also mentioned that she does not want to open up the issue because she is concerned about the potential impact on those around Lee Seung Gi.

4. Other Legal Processes Involving Cha Ga Won

Cha Ga Won is also facing a different case. She was reported to have been handed over to the prosecutor's office with a detained status on August 7, 2026, related to allegations of receiving an advance payment of 24.2 billion won from Nomus for a business contract utilizing the intellectual property rights of artists under her company's umbrella.

According to circulating reports, the business that received the advance payment is alleged not to have been conducted as agreed. The total losses in this case are estimated to reach around 30 billion won.

Until now, the series of cases involving Lee Seung Gi and Cha Ga Won is still ongoing. The payment dispute for the building project in Jangchung-dong has become a separate issue also involving construction company P and subcontractor A.
