Memories of Han Geng's Difficult Time as a Trainee in SM and K-Pop Idol, Low Salary and Even Thought of Ending His Life

After graduating from school at the age of 17, Han Geng signed a contract with SM Entertainment. At that time, Han Geng admitted that he didn't think much and only had the intention of making a lot of money. Han Geng confessed that since childhood, he and his family had indeed experienced financial difficulties.

At that time, Han Geng immediately signed a 13-year contract with SM. His father at that time jokingly or seriously said, "I sold my child."

As a trainee, Han Geng worked hard for his debut from morning until night every day. Sometimes, he didn't even realize that he was injured because he trained too hard.

As a trainee, Han Geng did receive a monthly allowance. But after his debut, his income was not much because he had to return the money he received as a trainee. So his income after debut was even smaller than when he was a trainee.

During his time as a K-Pop idol, Han Geng experienced severe depression and stress. He even called his father and talked about how he would choose to end his own life.

Finally, in 2009, Han Geng decided to leave SM because he felt that his 13-year contract was unfair, and also because of unclear distribution of income. Of course, this decision also led him to leave Super Junior. Han Geng felt that this decision was the right choice.

Nevertheless, Han Geng is still grateful for his time with Super Junior. Thanks to his career in Korea, even though it was short, it helped him to develop.

After returning to China, Han Geng succeeded as an actor and singer, receiving many awards domestically and internationally. He also married actress Ccelina Jade in 2019 and they have a daughter born in 2022.
