Netflix Releases First Teaser for New Series 'THE SILENT SEA' Welcoming Gong Yoo's Comeback After a Long Hiatus

Kapanlagi.com - Netflix will soon present a new Korean sci-fi thriller series titled THE SILENT SEA on December 24th. Set in the year 2075 when resources on Earth have drastically diminished, an elite team embarks on a mission to reach an abandoned research base on the moon.

This new series will be a favorite for K-drama enthusiasts. Not only that, this drama stars Bae Doona and Gong Yoo. Previously, Gong Yoo was popular in dramas like GOBLIN, TRAIN TO BUSAN, and most recently, SQUID GAME. Meanwhile, Bae Doona will return with a new character after her success in dramas like KINGDOM and STRANGER (SECRET FOREST). Additionally, this drama also features Lee Joon and Kim Sun Young.

In the teaser, it can be seen that this elite team consists of astrobiology expert Song Jian (Bae Doona), team leader Han Yunjae (Gong Yoo), chief engineer Ryu Taesuk (Lee Joon), doctor Hong Gayoung (Kim Sun Young), head of security Gong Soohyuk (Lee Mu Saeng), and pilot Kim Sun (Lee Sung Wook). They must undertake a secret mission located in the central area of the moon called the 'Silent Sea,' which holds many mysteries.

Leading up to its release, THE SILENT SEA has released its first teaser, showcasing the tension experienced by the team members. The spacecraft carrying the elite team is forced to land on the moon due to technical issues. After struggling to escape from the stranded ship on the cliff, they attempt to traverse the silent surface of the moon and eventually reach the Balhae Moon Research Station. In this place, the team must risk their lives to find answers so that humanity can survive and complete their mission. Will they be able to return safely to Earth?

THE SILENT SEA is based on the short film of the same name by director Choi Hang Yong, which received attention at the 13th Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival in 2014.
